Bewdley Medical Centre Patients Participation Group
The patients advisory group was set up in 1996 when the Practice
was a Total Purchasing Site. The group has representation from the
CHC, the local council, the Primary He
alth Care Team, Social Services and
interested patients.
The main purpose of the group is to give a patient's view on the
work that we are doing or planning to do. They see all our plans
and try to point us in the right direction if we are failing to
meet patients needs. The group has helped the practice to make
major decisions like whether to join the Primary Care Centre
system.
With the establishment of the PCG, a network of patient groups
has been formed from the groups attached to all 14 practices. This
network feeds ideas and information to the lay representative on
the PCG board. This network is being continued and enhanced by the
PCT. The patients group holds an Annual General meeting each year
and new members are elected at that meeting.
